Onion boil with vegetable spare ribs

This stuffed onion is more than just a side dish—it's a true highlight for any BBQ! Gently roasted on the outside, packed with aromatic butter and spices on the inside. Whether cooked in the oven or air fryer, this onion boil brings rustic flavor with a modern twist to your plate. It's especially delicious when paired with our plant-based spare ribs!

  • aluminum foil

    1 large white onion

    50g vegan butter 1 tbsp parsley

    Spices

    2 tsp paprika powder

    1 tsp fried chicken seasoning

    1 ½ tsp garlic powder

    1 tsp vegetable broth

    1 tsp pepper

    ½ tsp salt

    ¼ tbsp dried thyme

    ¼ tbsp onion powder

    ¼ tbsp cumin powder

    ½ tbsp marjoram

    ½ tbsp chili flakes

    Peel the onion.

    Carefully hollow out, leaving the base intact.

    Fill 30g of the vegetable butter into the inside of the onion.

    Melt the remaining butter and mix it with all the spices to form a paste. Place the onion on a piece of aluminum foil.

    Rub the spice paste all over and sprinkle with parsley. Wrap the onion tightly in the foil and place it in a baking dish, on a baking sheet, or in the air fryer. Bake for about 1 hour at: 190 °C in the oven or 210 °C in the Airfryer

    Unpack carefully – beware of hot steam!
