June 21st marks the official start of summer, but we hope that we will have many summery days by then. Days when we can fill up on lots of vitamin D and spend many wonderful hours outdoors. In keeping with this, great types of fruit and vegetables are in season in June, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and our beloved strawberries, which can be used to create delicious, colorful salads.
With our seasonal calendar you are ideally positioned to really start the summer season. Finally there is a lot of variety in the kitchen again - making cooking even more fun. 👩🏼🌾
Our recipe idea for June
In the month of June we wanted to savor the variety of products available regionally and therefore opted for a summer burger with crispy potato and carrot fries. We top the Sunshine Burger with delicious green asparagus and a delicious radish cream. This brings summer straight to your plate!
Radishes are a very low-calorie but nutrient-dense vegetable. The tubers contain important nutrients such as vitamins C and K and iron. Vitamin C ensures, among other things, a strong immune system, vitamin K ensures healthy blood vessels and iron is important for oxygen transport and cell formation. PS The best thing for the environment is of course to grow the tubers yourself. Radishes also grow very quickly, which makes planting them very practical.
Like its white brother, green asparagus is very low in calories and also has many great properties, such as stimulating metabolism, a high folic acid content and a lot of vitamin C, even significantly more than white asparagus. Green asparagus also has vitamin A, which is important for healthy skin and good vision. The natural pigment chlorophyll (also known as leaf green) provides the green color and the slightly heartier, “vegetable” taste.
Potatoes are a great source of vitamins and minerals, such as B and C vitamins and potassium. The potato as such has little fat and consists of almost 80% water. Potatoes also provide high-quality protein and, thanks to the starch they contain, keep you full for a long time. You can say the tubers are truly multi-talented 😊

Seasonal products in June
Grab your shopping bag and head out shopping. Colorful vegetables, fresh fruits and crisp salads await you. When buying berries such as strawberries, currants or blueberries, it is best to pay attention to organic products, as the use of chemical-synthetic pesticides is not permitted.
The range of outdoor vegetables is also constantly growing. In addition to great summer salads such as endive lettuce, iceberg lettuce, lollo rosso, you can now also find freshly harvested vegetables such as peas, broccoli and cauliflower.
Here's a little preparation tip for the two types of cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower: It's best to steam the two types of cabbage so that they retain their valuable ingredients. They contain a lot of fiber. Broccoli in particular shines with its high vitamin C and calcium content.
With this wide range of regionally fresh products, we hope that you will now be keen to meet up with your loved ones for the next barbecue evening. For example, you could bring a freshly harvested salad or some raw vegetables for the grill. The grilling season can start with a few drops of olive oil and fine spices. Seasonal eating can be so delicious!
PS our fresh products are particularly suitable for grilling 😊
