Our recipe idea for August
We'll sweeten the month of August with a homemade chanterelle minced pizza. We also top them with delicious herbs, onions and radicchio. The dough is easy to prepare, making it perfect for social evenings when everyone just has to top the pizza together. Our vegan mince gives the pizza an additional great taste.
Chanterelles consist largely of water and contain hardly any fat or carbohydrates. The mushrooms contain, among other things, a lot of iron, which is also important for blood formation. They also have a high beta-carotene content, which is important for the formation of vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for the skin and eyesight, among other things. The potassium content, which is important for the transmission of nerve impulses, is also impressive.
Due to the bitter substances it contains, the radicchio gives the pizza a characterful note. Radicchio is rich in vitamins such as vitamin C and B vitamins and minerals such as potassium and calcium. The mineral-vitamin mix is, among other things, good for bones, teeth, nerves and the immune system. The bitter substances it contains stimulate digestion. By the way, radicchio is related to chicory.

Seasonal products in August
As already mentioned, in August the range of seasonal products is greater than in any other month: colorful and crunchy vegetables, such as fruity, sweet tomatoes or colorful peppers as well as sweet and juicy fruit. The taste is at its peak. There really is something for everyone here. Raspberries, strawberries, currants, blackberries, gooseberries, blueberries - as well as juicy mirabelle plums, plums, peaches and cherries - all from local cultivation, give us a berry and fruity variety. You can use this to conjure up and pimp up wonderful desserts, cakes or cereals.
Tomatoes from regional cultivation are particularly tasty and aromatic. The variety of tomatoes is enormous: there are, for example, red, yellow, orange, greenish, round or elongated. Very different tastes, aromas, colors and shapes can be achieved from different seeds. Have you ever picked fresh, ripe tomatoes from the vine and snacked on them? You don't need any spices because they just naturally taste so sweet. A tomato salad with good olive oil and crunchy rocket is particularly tasty, especially on hot days. An ideal companion for picnics or barbecues. Our meat alternatives go particularly well with this, such as meatballs, köttbullar or cevapcici.
Have you ever thought about planting tomatoes in your home? This is also possible without a garden. Tomatoes grow just as well in pots on the balcony or terrace. A warm location without direct sunlight is best. It is ideal if the tomatoes are somewhat protected so that no direct rain falls on the plants. The tomatoes are ripe when they are completely colored and no longer have any green spots. The warmer and sunnier the summer, the sooner you can enjoy your beloved vegetables.
